SpeakingCamps is run by Olga Dobrozhan in Montreal, Canada. This page explains what we collect, why, where it's kept and for how long.
What we collect
- Your name and email, when you sign in.
- The recordings you choose to send for feedback, and your tutor's scores, notes and voice replies.
- Your check-in answers: level, why you're learning, practice time and date, favorite topics, how you like to practice, and where you heard about us. They set up your plan.
- If you ask us to email your level-check result: your email, your level, and whether you want tips.
- In Daily Reps: which camp you did and for how long, to keep your streak.
- If you use the AI tutor chat: the messages you type or dictate.
- Visits and button clicks on our ad pages, with the ad they came from. No names or emails.
What stays on your device
- Practice takes you don't send, your lesson notes and your progress stay in your browser.
- Use Export progress and Import progress at the bottom of any page to move them to another device.
Why we use it
- To give you feedback, keep your access and your streak, and improve the lessons.
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
- The recordings you send for feedback are not sent to any AI service.
Who can see it
- Your tutor, who reviews your recordings.
- You, through your private feedback link. Anyone you forward that link to can see and hear your feedback.
Where it's kept
- In your tutor's Google account (Google Drive, Sheets and Gmail). Google may store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
- This website is hosted by Netlify.
- AI tutor chat messages are processed by OpenAI in the United States.
- Dictation in the AI tutor chat uses your browser's speech recognition. In Chrome, Google processes it.
How long we keep it
- Recordings and voice replies are deleted automatically 6 months after your feedback is sent, or 6 months after you send them if no feedback was sent.
- Your scores and written notes stay on your feedback page.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted, at any time.
Security
- Recordings travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- They are stored privately and never shared publicly.
- On the free plan and for members who add their email, your progress (streak, finished lessons, notes, settings) is also saved to your account in our Google Drive, so it works on every device and moves with you when you upgrade. Recordings are only sent when you choose to send them.
